Eskom’s Recent Bulletin:
Saturday, 02 September 2023: Following the loss of an additional 4 generating units today and the requirement to replenish emergency reserves, Stage 4 loadshedding will be maintained until 16:00 on Sunday (previously communicated Stage 2 loadshedding). Eskom will publish a further update tomorrow afternoon.
Mastering the Load Shedding Challenge: A Pro’s Guide
- Defend Your Devices: Think of electrical surges as covert adversaries during load shedding. Your best defense? Surge protectors – consider them the quiet guardians of your electronic realm.
- Prioritize Safety: A functioning alarm system is a start; but elevate it with a consistently charged backup battery. This isn’t a corner you want to cut.
- Illuminate Your World: Consider stashing a flashlight in your vehicle. When cutting-edge technology falters, this trusty tool steps up. Conserve your phone’s energy for essential calls or that must-capture moment.
- Dual-mode Directory: It’s wise to pen down indispensable numbers. While digital directories are great, a tangible list of key contacts – both emergency and personal – is invaluable.
- Stay Energized: Anticipating a blackout? Ensure every device is fully charged. Once power is restored, refuel them. Oh, and power banks? They serve a purpose beyond just festival weekends.
- Culinary Creativity: Have an LP gas bottle on hand? It’s not just for light. Use it to prepare a dish or boil water. Pro-tip: Keep hot water in a thermos to ensure that comforting cup of coffee is always at hand. If you’re privy to upcoming blackouts, strategize your meals accordingly.
While load shedding can fray our nerves, proactive measures make all the difference. It’s a game of readiness, ensuring safety, and minimizing inconveniences. Together, we can navigate these interruptions and keep an optimistic eye on a future with fewer disruptions. Here’s raising a toast to brighter days ahead!
