Daytime Ease:
- Suspension Period: Load shedding paused from 05:00 to 16:00 daily.
- Evening Resumption: Stage 2 load shedding to take effect from 16:00 through the night.
Operational Insights:
- Capacity Management: “While the available generation capacity has been sustained, the need to replenish the emergency reserves for the upcoming week necessitates an increase in the stage of load shedding. Eskom will closely monitor the power system and communicate any changes to load shedding should it be required,” Eskom elaborates.
- Current Outages: Unplanned outages stand at 13,350MW; planned maintenance affects 8,476MW.
- Capacity Recovery: An additional 3,300MW of generating capacity is expected by Monday.
