Johannesburg: In a move bringing temporary relief to South Africans, Eskom has announced a plan to suspend load shedding during daytime hours for the rest of this week and into the weekend.
Daily Load Shedding Schedule:
- Daytime Suspension: Load shedding halted from 05:00 to 16:00.
- Evening Resumption: Stage 2 load shedding from 16:00 to 05:00.
Schedule Breakdown:
- Wednesday to Sunday (13th to 17th December): Load shedding suspended each day until 16:00, followed by Stage 2 in the evenings.
Reason for Suspension:
- The decision comes as a result of reduced power demand and the expectation of increased generation capacity returning to service towards the weekend.
Current Power Status:
- Unplanned Outages: 13,375MW offline.
- Planned Maintenance: 7,820MW offline.
- Recovery Plan: An additional 2,000MW anticipated
